A pretty boy Floyd the outlaw Oklahoma knew him well

His wife beside him in a wagon as into town they rode
There a deputy sheriff approached him

Using vulgar words of language and his wife she overheard
And pretty boy Floyd grabbed a long chain and the deputy grabbed a gun
And in the fight that followed he laid that deputy down
Then he took to the trees and timbers
To lived a life of shame
Every crime in Oklahoma was added to his name

And Floyd found a welcome
At a many a farmer's door
There's a many a starving farmer
The same story told
How this outlaw paid their mortgage
And saved their little home
Others tell you 'bout a stranger
Who came to beg a meal
And underneath his napkin
Left a thousand dollar bill
It was in Oklahoma City
It was on a Christmas Day
In a whole car load of groceries
In a letter that did say
When you say that I'm an outlaw

Here's a Christmas dinner
For the families on relief
When as through this world I ramble
I see lots of funny men
Some will rob you with a six gun
Some with a fountain pen
